To add a little bit of background, I must add that I grew up in a huge house with my grandparents, my mother, my brother, my Aunt, my Uncle, my two female cousins, and my other Aunt. We had burping contests that I am still proud of to this day, and passed gas like it was our job. I still remember my grandfather belching at the kitchen table, and as the family laughs, and my grandmother saying, "Gary!", my grandpa says, "What?! I just made room for more!" Keep in mind, though, that right at this point I was 6, my cousin was 5, my brother was 4, and my other cousin was 6 months...we were quite young. Any noise that related to bodily functions was absolutely hilarious to us.
After everyone moved out of my grandparents' house, I only had my brother to keep me company. We made our own fun...and we had a great childhood! I see a lot of both my brother and me in Elliott. I look forward to, and welcome with open arms, to the times that she and her siblings find things to do and hearing their laughter. My brother and I spent a good portion of our childhood in side-splitting laughter. We also grew up in the 90's so we had to find things to do! We went outside, got dirty, played inside with Jake's hotwheels...you name it, we probably did it. That's my hope for my children as they grow up in an age of technology. (*more sighs* Is it sad that Elliott knows how to use my iPad, my cell phone, and the TV?)
All moms know that their children do things that are hilarious. My child is no exception to that. I decided to start this blog to write about her funny antics to bring not only myself joy later on, but to bring others joy as well. Children are innocent. They are good at being innocent. *ahem* *cough* *looks at Elliott* She's verrrrrry good at innocent. Very good. But, my favorite thing about her is how smart she is. She's as sharp as a tack!
Just like any almost 3 year old child, Elliott mimics most of what she hears. In fact, that's what she spends most of her time doing. But what's funny about her? She uses what I've already said in different context at a different time period. Usually repeating what I've said while playing, or talking to my mother.
Her recent favorite phrase? "Dog goneit!".......
